SWP Calculator
Systematic Withdrawal Plan.
A Systematic Withdrawal Plan (SWP) is a retirement income strategy that allows you to withdraw a fixed amount of money from your investment portfolio at regular intervals (e.g., monthly or quarterly). This provides a steady stream of cash flow during your non-working years. The SWP Calculator is designed to help you estimate how long your accumulated corpus will last based on your withdrawal needs and expected investment returns. To use this planning tool, you will need to enter four pieces of information. First, provide the 'Total Initial Investment', which is the total amount of money in your retirement fund when you begin the withdrawals. Second, enter the 'Withdrawal Per Period', which is the fixed amount you plan to take out at each interval. Third, you need to input the 'Expected Annual Return Rate' (as a percentage) that you anticipate your remaining invested capital will continue to generate. Finally, specify the 'Withdrawal Frequency' per year (for example, enter 12 for monthly withdrawals, 4 for quarterly, or 1 for annual). Once you've entered all the details, click 'Calculate'. The tool will then estimate the total duration your funds will last, displaying the result in years and months. It also includes an important validation: if your withdrawal amount is less than or equal to the returns your investment is generating, the calculator will inform you that your money will last forever, as you are only drawing from the earnings without touching the principal.
